Next God of War Reportedly Planned as Multiplatform Release
Rumors about a new God of War have been circulating for some time. According to recent reports, the project could be a 2.5D metroidvania-style spin-off. A new rumor now suggests that the game may launch on multiple platforms, which could mean a release on PC and possibly even other consoles.
The information comes from NateTheHate, a well-known insider who is generally considered reliable. However, he was not able to provide many details, so it is not clear what “multiplatform” really means in this case. Since PlayStation games coming to PC is now quite common, the rumor could simply refer to that. Still, there may be more to it.
There is also a chance that the rumored God of War project could appear at the upcoming State of Play event. If that happens, we may soon get official confirmation.
A Possible Multiplatform Release
“All I can say is this: When talk of the 2D God of War first started last year, I heard whispers that it was being considered for a multiplatform release,” said NateTheHate. However, he added that he does not know whether that idea has “evolved into an active plan.”
At this point, it seems the project was still in early discussions, but the idea is not unrealistic. Recent examples such as Helldivers 2, which launched on Xbox Series X|S, and LEGO Horizon Adventures, which arrived on Nintendo Switch in addition to PC, show that PlayStation titles can expand beyond their usual platforms.
According to several sources, the new God of War would be a spin-off action-adventure game in 2D form, with elements similar to a metroidvania. The project is described as “2.5D,” meaning it would use 3D graphics but follow a mainly side-scrolling, two-dimensional structure.
For now, nothing has been officially confirmed. However, with more rumors appearing and events approaching, we may not have to wait long to learn the truth.
