Next PlayStation State of Play May Arrive Earlier Than June, Says Insider

Despite the wave of announcements, surprises, and major returns from February’s State of Play, Sony may already be preparing its next media event, which could take place soon. This comes from insider NateTheHate, who has previously proven to be reliable on several occasions.

After recently making headlines with rumors about the next Nintendo Direct and upcoming Switch 2 games planned for 2026, NateTheHate has now turned his attention to the PlayStation community to share the latest information gathered from his sources inside Sony’s gaming division.

Sony Could Hold New State of Play Event This Spring

In a post shared on Twitter/X, the insider said that the next PlayStation State of Play is expected to take place well before June, based on information from his sources, although no exact date has been confirmed yet.

According to the well-known insider, Sony’s new event focused on PlayStation Studios first-party exclusives and SIE partners is expected to be held in spring, before the recently announced Xbox Games Showcase in June, which will be followed by a deep dive on Gears of War: E-Day.

PlayStation users are naturally hoping to once again see Marvel’s Wolverine in action, return to the sci-fi world of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and get a closer look at other first-party and third-party titles coming to PS5 later in 2026 and beyond.

As for PlayStation 6 and the rumored portable model, it is unlikely that the spring State of Play mentioned by NateTheHate will provide any details about Sony’s next console generation.
