Next Xbox Could Launch in Late 2027, According to an Insider
According to a new report from Windows Central, written by well-known Microsoft insider Jez Corden, the next Xbox console would still have a planned release window set for late 2027. This would confirm information that had already surfaced in the past.
While this is not entirely new, there had been some doubts recently. Sony appears to be extending the life cycle of PS5, potentially pushing PS6 further into the future. Because of this, some expected Microsoft to rethink its plans as well. At the moment, however, this does not seem to be the case.
The new Xbox is still expected to launch in 2027, likely during the fall, although the current market situation makes any long-term prediction uncertain.
No Delay Despite the Memory Market Issues
The main takeaway from the report is that, despite the ongoing memory market crisis, there are no signs of delays for the next Xbox. Supply issues and rising hardware costs do not appear to have changed Microsoft’s plans so far.
That said, Corden does not rule out the possibility of a delay in the future. The current situation makes it very hard to accurately predict next-generation hardware production, and plans could still change if conditions worsen.
The article also repeats several details that have already emerged about the new console. The next Xbox is expected to be a hybrid between a console and a PC, able to run Xbox games natively while also supporting PC titles.
It may also include access to third-party stores such as Steam and the Epic Games Store. Other rumors, supported by multiple sources, point to a new AMD system-on-chip, codenamed Magnus, offering very high CPU and GPU power. This level of performance could also result in a higher price compared to current consoles.
For now, Microsoft has not officially confirmed any of these details, but the 2027 launch window still appears to be the plan.
