Nickelodeon is launching a new TV channel called “The Splat” to broadcast classic 90s cartoons including Rugrats, CatDog, The Wild Thornberries, Ren and Stimpy, Hey Arnold! and Rocko’s Modern Life. The news was announced via a YouTube video and there has already been teasers across social media. More specifically, the channel is promoting “#TheSplatIsComing” on Twitter and trying to get people to discuss their favourite Nickelodeon cartoons.
According to an inside source, the channel will feature a host of iconic 90s cartoons but there won’t be any new episodes filmed. Apparently, The Splat is set for an October release. I would love to divulge more information but the studio is being quite coy about its future plans. Personally, I remember coming home from school and sitting down to watch Rugrats. Seeing the extremely timid, Chuckie trying to cope with the evil Angelica was always a great watch.
Many of the 90s cartoons contained fantastic characters and engrossing stories. I’m not ashamed to say that at 27 years old, I would go back and watch some of my childhood cartoons. The channel is bound to be a nostalgia trip and I cannot wait to see the final schedule.
