Nintendo 3DS Signed by Miyamoto Passes $21,000 on eBay
In summer 2015, during E3, Nintendo held the Nintendo World Championships. This was a competition inspired by the famous 1990 tournament, made to celebrate both classic games and upcoming titles.
Players competed in several challenges on Nintendo 3DS, mostly based on NES classics like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid. They had to finish levels as fast as possible or survive tough boss fights.
The overall winner was John Numbers. As a prize, he received a very rare collector’s item: a black Nintendo 3DS XL with the original signature of Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario and Zelda.

After keeping the console for almost ten years, Numbers has now decided to sell it. He described it as a real “national treasure” and said the box has only been opened a few times, so the item is still in excellent condition.
The auction is now live on eBay. It includes the console, its original box, and some special collector cards dedicated to John Numbers, made by Walter Day after the championship.
However, the seller made it clear that the trophy he won in 2015 will stay with him and is not included in the sale.
At the moment, bids have already passed $21,000, and the price may rise even more because there are still several days left before the auction ends.
The delivery method is also interesting. Numbers said he will not ship the console internationally, and after the sale is complete, he may choose to deliver it to the buyer in person.
