Nintendo Could Be Working on a New Console
The president of Nintendo recently stated that the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 will not be affected by the rising cost of RAM. He also mentioned that he wants the system to be more accessible, especially for people buying their first console at a certain age.
These statements hinted at possible price adjustments or cost-saving strategies. However, a new leak suggests a different story — one that points toward the development of a brand-new console.
A New Console Code Sparks Speculation
On Nintendo’s official account website, users discovered a new console code, “OSM,” which the company has not used before. When accessed, this code displayed an image of what appears to be a Nintendo Switch 2. The image looks almost identical to the current console, leaving room for multiple interpretations.
Although nothing has been officially confirmed, this discovery sparked speculation that Nintendo might be developing a new system — possibly a more affordable version of the Nintendo Switch 2. The design and purpose could follow the same philosophy as the Nintendo Switch Lite, which offered similar functionality at a lower cost.
Given the ongoing RAM shortage and its impact on hardware prices, it makes sense that Nintendo might explore a cost-effective version of its next-generation console. Selling more units is vital for maintaining the company’s market value and revenue, making a “Switch 2 Lite” a realistic possibility.
Still, it’s important to remember that this is just a rumor for now. There has been no official confirmation or announcement from Nintendo.
