Nintendo Launches a Major Discount Initiative Thanks to Customs Tariff Refunds, But Only in the USA
Nintendo has announced the launch of a major discount initiative called the “Customer Appreciation Sale,” starting on the Nintendo eShop and official Nintendo Store. It has apparently been made possible thanks to refunds received on customs tariffs, but unfortunately it is linked only to the North American market.
The new sale was announced by Nintendo of America and will run from September 13 to 26 on the eShop and Nintendo Store, as well as at some physical retailers taking part in the initiative. It will include many games and other products for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
Nintendo Is Cutting Switch and Switch 2 Game Prices for a Limited Time
Discounts of 30% are planned on many digital games for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, as well as various bundles, but also on physical games, downloadable content, accessories, amiibo, and various other items.
As Nintendo explained, this discount campaign is a “way of saying thank you to Nintendo players for their continued support.” The company also said that the initiative “is made possible in part by tariff-related refunds.”
It’s also worth noting that Nintendo has clearly stated that it did not feel obligated to return U.S. tariff refunds to consumers, a position also shared by competitors Sony and Microsoft. However, the company later decided to launch this initiative to turn the situation at least partly in favor of its customers.
We still do not know which products will be discounted as part of the Customer Appreciation Sale, but we will keep an eye on the situation. Unfortunately, it seems to be an initiative linked only to Nintendo’s North American market, at least for now.
