Nintendo Refutes Claims of Sales Conflict with Amazon Over Switch 2
Nintendo and Amazon have denied being in the middle of a conflict related to the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. In recent weeks, many people were surprised that they could not buy the new Nintendo products on Amazon in some regions, especially in the United States. Some buyers also said they received products from different regions. The Nintendo Switch 2 itself is not available for purchase.
Mixed Signals and Customer Confusion
It is hard to say exactly what is going on, but both companies have stated that there is no conflict between them.
This statement follows a Bloomberg report claiming that Nintendo removed its products from Amazon because of listings that sold them at lower prices. These listings came from third-party sellers who were likely importing goods at low cost from Southeast Asia.
According to the report, Amazon tried to provide clearer labels to show which products were officially from Nintendo and which were not. However, this effort does not seem to have fully restored the relationship.
Official Statements From Nintendo and Amazon
“There is no such fact. We do not disclose details of negotiations or contracts with retailers,” said a Nintendo spokesperson. Amazon also denied any issues, calling the report “inaccurate” and saying they are “pleased to offer Nintendo products directly to our customers as part of our commitment to providing an exceptional shopping experience with the widest selection possible.”
In fact, Nintendo products like the Nintendo Switch and many games, including first-party titles, are available on Amazon. There are also third-party games for Nintendo Switch 2, such as Cyberpunk 2077. However, Nintendo Switch 2 and Mario Kart World are not listed. You can still pre-order Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Metroid Prime 4 is missing, which might be a different case, as Amazon canceled pre-orders earlier this year.
