Nintendo Spends Record Amount on Research and Development
According to Nintendo’s latest financial report, the company has never spent so much on research and development. In the fiscal year that ended on March 31, the Japanese company invested a total of 143.79 billion yen. This is likely due to the development of the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as new games and the company’s overall growth. As a result, Nintendo needed to hire more employees, which increased their spending.
A Philosophy That Requires Major Resources
Nintendo’s R&D expenses last year were about 6 billion yen higher than the previous year. It seems that these costs will keep growing over time. The company estimates that its R&D investments will reach 155 billion yen by the end of the current fiscal year, showing continued growth in this area.
Nintendo has always stood out for its commitment to creating unique and original experiences, projects that often require years of research and experimentation to produce. These efforts have led to products that millions of users have enjoyed over the years.
However, this approach carries a certain degree of risk. If Switch 2 or other projects fail, Nintendo will need to recover these costs somehow.
