Nintendo Switch 2 Sells Over 10 Million Units in Less Than Four Months
Despite what many predicted, Nintendo’s latest console has become a major success for the company. Nintendo has just announced its financial results for this year up to September, revealing that it has sold more than 10 million Nintendo Switch 2 units since its release. This number even surpasses the success of the original Nintendo Switch, showing that the second version has been very well received by players right from the start.
Strong Launch Performance
The Nintendo Switch 2 sold 10.36 million consoles in just four months, while the original Nintendo Switch needed ten months to reach the same milestone.
When it comes to games, the Switch 2 has already sold 20.62 million titles. The best-selling game so far is Mario Kart World, which launched alongside the console and has sold 9.57 million copies—almost one for every console sold. Another major success is Donkey Kong Bananza, which has sold 3.49 million units since its release in mid-July.
Ongoing Popularity of the Original Switch
Nintendo also shared data about sales of the original Switch model. Even though it’s no longer the main focus, players are still buying it, though in smaller numbers. In total, Nintendo has sold 154 million units of the original Switch—an impressive figure that gets close to the record-holding PlayStation 2, which reached 160 million units. However, it will be difficult for the first hybrid console from Nintendo to surpass that record at this stage.
