Nintendo’s Wii U sells out in U.S. much faster than retailers can restock

Nintendo confirmed that all the 400,000 units of Wii U was sold out in the first week in the U.S. Because of the high sales, Nintendo is trying their best to restock suppliers with additional units but as of now retailer’s shelves have no Wii U in stock yet.

As of now, Nintendo and their 3rd party developers haven’t revealed any software sales number yet. For those who do not know, Wii Mini is just around the corner. The end of 2012 is lucky for Nintendo? Time will tell. Do note that Wii Mini doesn’t come with an internet access, so its tough to say buyer’s response on that point- or how does Nintendo intend to keep the sales numbers for Wii U’s games as high as a console should have during release. Back in 2006, Nintendo’s original Wii made a first-week record sales of 475,000 units in U.S.
