Nioh 3 Is a Timed PS5 Exclusive, Other Console Versions Still Possible
Nioh 3 will launch as a timed exclusive on PS5, as revealed by the small text shown at the end of the latest trailer published by Koei Tecmo. The trailer mentions a six-month exclusivity period, but does not clearly state what will happen once that window ends.
This raises an obvious question: which other console could Nioh 3 come to next? A debut on Xbox would be a first for the series, but at the moment it seems unlikely. None of the previous Nioh games have ever been released on Microsoft platforms, and starting directly with the third entry would feel unusual.
Which Consoles Could Get Nioh 3 After PS5
A more realistic option could be Nintendo Switch 2, although that would also mark the first appearance of the series on Nintendo hardware. This could be a concern for players who care about the story and the narrative built across the previous two games.
Nioh 3 is currently set to launch on February 6 for PS5 and PC, so it is likely that more details about a possible new platform will only emerge several months later. If the six-month exclusivity is confirmed, a new version could arrive around August.
There is also a third possible scenario. Nioh 3 could eventually launch on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, but only after a collection featuring the first two Nioh games. Such a release would help introduce the series to new players before the third entry arrives.
That said, given the size and depth of these games, timing could be tight. Still, Koei Tecmo—like many other publishers today—clearly values multi-platform releases, so nothing can be ruled out for now.
