No Blood in Resident Evil Requiem Trailer, Fans Suspect Nintendo Influence
Resident Evil Requiem was one of the highlights of this week’s Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase. For the occasion, Capcom released a new gameplay trailer that is full of action, but also unusually clean when looked at more closely.
As many fans quickly noticed, there is almost no blood shown in the video. Leon performs a few well-placed flying kicks, but no zombie is clearly killed or seriously injured on screen.
An Action Trailer With No Blood in Sight
At first, this might seem like a coincidence, but the situation becomes obvious—and sometimes even funny—during the scenes involving firearms. In these moments, characters either do not shoot at all or completely miss their targets, even from very short distances.
One example stands out around the 1:30 mark of the trailer, where Leon embarrassingly misses a sniper rifle shot. This is not the kind of mistake players expect from someone like Leon.
Shortly after, Leon is shown wielding a chainsaw, ready to tear through some undead enemies—only to completely miss again, as if he had no sense of depth. He finally lands a hit by sneaking up on a zombie with an axe, but the scene cuts away just before impact.
Fans Suspect Nintendo-Imposed Censorship
What makes this even stranger is that many of these same scenes were already shown during the recent Resident Evil Showcase, where Capcom had no issue displaying blood and dismemberment.
This has led fans to a clear theory: Nintendo may be enforcing a form of censorship in Direct trailers to keep them as “family friendly” as possible, even though Thursday’s presentation was labeled as 18+ content.
This idea seems even more believable when looking at other trailers shown during the event. Resident Evil Requiem is not an isolated case: trailers for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, as well as Hitman and The Duskbloods, also avoided showing explicit kills.
At this point, the pattern feels far from accidental, and many fans are convinced that Nintendo’s hand is clearly involved.
