Not that long ago we heard that Windows 9 might be delayed to squeeze in Windows 8.1 update 3. Windows 8.1 Update 3 was to be the third and last major update for Windows 8.1 before Microsoft moves on to Windows 9. However, new reports from famous Windows leaker WZOR suggest Windows 8.1 update 3 has been scrapped entirely. Microsoft is going to push ahead with the second update which is coming in the very near future, possibly as early as next week, and then move straight onto Windows 9. The reason? Well Microsoft thinks Windows 8.X is a lost cause, a bit like a Vista 2.0. Instead of investing time and resources into Windows 8.1 update 3, that could be better spent improving Windows 9. This is a move that might anger Windows 8.X users – they’ve paid for the OS and now Microsoft wants to short change them because it hasn’t “sold enough”.

This really pisses me off! I spent $199.00 to actually buy a retail Win8 pro and they are going to scrap it after2 years? This is absolutely ridiculous! They had better comp everyone who bought WIN8 with a free upgrade to WIN9
They aren;t scrapping Windows 8 they are just scrapping any more major updates as they want to move on. The OS will still exist and be supported with updates until its expiry date which i believe is 2021, there just wont be any major updates (aka service packs)
Yes, Windows 7 had just one service pack, about one year after release. Windows 8 got updated to 8.1 and then two more major updates. So it’s not like Microsoft is neglecting the OS.
Hell if they want it to sell, drop the damn price for 3 or 4 months it sell. It’s good OS just has bad name from stupid people that don’t know a good OS when they see one (because it don’t have start menu).
