noblechairs EPIC BLACK Edition Gaming Chair Review

Complete Chair

I’ve reviewed a few noblechairs over the years and even reviewed the original EPIC right here four years ago. Albeit, I sidegrade to the HERO series about two years ago and gave my son the HERO, but we still have it and it’s still in great condition. So I know what to expect when it comes to a noblechair product. The reason I mentioned both of them is that while this is the EPIC Black Edition, it looks and feels like it has more in common with the HERO to me.

Obviously the quality is fantastic here, this is a premium gaming chairs and you get what you pay for. The quality of the stitching is fantastic throughout. We’ve had their chairs in the office for years and never seen one lose a stitch.

Being the black edition it’s pretty much all black. They’ve blacked out the metalwork on the arm extenders, so but also changed the finish on a lot of fittings too. These are more metallic now and there’s a little less plastic here. It’s so black that it’s a bloody nightmare to take pictures off, it really is as dark as it look though.

The cushions are lovely quality and basically the same set you get with the HERO. However, the lumbar cushion is on adjustable straps like the original EPIC, and not freestanding like it is on the HERO.

The height adjustment is excellent, allowing an improved range of adjustment. The old models were just a touch too high at their minimum, but that has been addressed

The tilt mechanism is awesome too. It’s much more robust and more balanced than most. However, some of this smooth and balanced feel may come from the added weight of this chair. You can rock the base, and even lock it at a tilted angle to suit your need. There’s a tension adjustment system too. Furthermore, you can angle the back quite far forward. And ALL the way backwards. What’s impressive is how stable it feels like this. Funny enough I didn’t take a picture of myself doing this, whoops.

The most important thing for me though is the lumbar support. This adjusts where the pressure point will be on your lower back and honestly, I have mine on 100% all the time these days and it’s helped me drastically reduce my sciatic pain. Albeit the results will be different for everyone.

Overall, it’s one of the best chairs noblechairs has ever made. They’ve taken a classic, added the improved features they’ve discovered over the last 4-5 years, and put them into action to make it better than it was. It’s honestly as simple as that.
