Nvidia announces new improved 3D Vision 2 glasses

Nvidia has announced an update to their successful and revolutionary 3D technology with new glasses and new monitor technology; the Nvidia 3D Vision 2 glasses and the Nvidia 3D LightBoost technology.

The new Nvidia 3D Vision 2 glasses have been fitted with a new design inspired by gamers and for gamers, providing a wider field of view with 20% larger lenses. The glasses also feature an increased external light blocking and are made with a soft composite material to be more comfortable to wear as well as allowing better fitting with headphones.

Featuring Nvidia’s advanced active-shutter and IR wireless technologies, both gamers and 3D enthusiasts can access the wide selection of 3D content available today and enjoy the beautiful and mind blowing 3D quality.

The new 3D Vision 2 glasses are also backward compatible with the supporting products which includes more than 70 different 3D Vision monitors, notebook and projectors.

These new glasses from Nvidia come right in time for the new upcoming game releases that will be even more enjoyable to play with.

“Gorgeous, bright, crystal-clear 3D worlds are created by NVIDIA’s 3D Vision 2 glasses with 3D LightBoost monitors and notebooks,” said Phil Eisler, general manager of 3D Vision at NVIDIA. “NVIDIA’s engineering team has made incredible enhancements in 3D on PCs, creating a breathtaking gaming experience that’s better than the best Hollywood 3D movie.”

The new 3D LightBoost technology from Nvidia on the other hand will be included in new monitors and will provide up to two times brighter 3D images than the current 3D solutions, as well as improved color quality. The environmental lighting will also largely be improved to make the gaming keyboard and mice more visible as well as reducing 3D ghosting.

The first desktop monitor certified with Nvidia’s 3D LightBoost technology comes from Asus with the VG278H, a 27” LED full HD display with resolution of 1920×1080 featuring a 3D HDMI 1.4a input as well as a Dual-link DVI input for the full HD 1080p 3D gaming. On top of that, Asus has also included their Trace-Free II Technology featuring 120Hz refresh rate and 2 ms response time, giving the viewer vivid and ultra-smooth images.

The Asus VG278H is will be available at the end of October and will include a pair of the new Nvidia 3D Vision 2 glasses for a price of $699.

“NVIDIA 3D LightBoost technology makes 3D games, movies and photos more stunning and life-like than ever before,” said David Wung, senior director of product management of Open Platform Business (OPBG) Group for ASUS Computer International. “With 3D LightBoost and our new full-HD monitors, colors are richer, textures and subtle image details virtually jump off the screen, and the overall quality of the experience is something to behold. We are thrilled to be the first desktop display manufacturer to bring this new level of 3D visual quality to our customers with the ASUS VG278H.”

More 3D LightBoost certified monitors are to be expected in coming months from manufacturers such as Acer and BenQ, while Toshiba currently offers 3D LightBoost compatible notebooks like the Satellite P770/P775, the Dynabook Satellite T572, the Dynabook T572, and the Qosmio X770/X775 while others are also to be expected in the coming months.

As for the Nvidia 3D Vision 2 glasses, the kit comes with one pair of the 3D Vision 2 glasses and a wireless USB IR emitter, they can be expected from all the major retailers and e-tailers sometime during October for a price of $149. Extra Nvidia 3D Vision 2 glasses will be available for $99.
