NVIDIA Denies Missing ROP Issues in RTX 50 Series Laptop GPUs
NVIDIA has officially denied the rumors that some RTX 50 series laptop GPUs might be shipped with missing rendering units. This comes after German publications like Heise Online and Hardwareluxx reported that NVIDIA had asked laptop manufacturers to check their devices for any missing ROPs.
In response, Ben Berraondo, NVIDIA GeForce’s Global PR Director, stated to The Verge that there are no issues with RTX 50 laptop GPUs. He emphasized that all manufacturing partners follow NVIDIA’s standard testing procedures and added that NVIDIA would contact the German publications to clarify the situation.
NVIDIA’s Official Response
NVIDIA has strongly denied any missing ROP problems in their laptop GPUs. The company stated that no other GPUs in the series are affected by such an issue. Previously, NVIDIA did confirm some manufacturing problems with the GeForce RTX 5080, but the company assures that the rest of the RTX 50 lineup is not impacted.
This statement should reassure laptop buyers, ensuring that their devices will come with the full ROP count as expected.
Possible Delays and Unusual Testing
Despite NVIDIA’s statement, some German publications have suggested that testing procedures for laptops seem unusual. They also reported that some RTX 50 laptop models might experience delays, potentially pushing their release from March to April or May.
Heise Online claims that the delays could be due to NVIDIA distributing the final vBIOS for laptop GPUs only recently. While there is some uncertainty, NVIDIA remains confident that the RTX 50 series laptop GPUs will not be affected by missing ROP issues.
