NVIDIA DLSS Comes to Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Marathon and More
It looks like NVIDIA is ramping up for a busy March, with some heavy hitters in the gaming world getting the DLSS treatment. Whether you’re planning to reconnect a shattered world in Death Stranding 2 or dive into the colourful RPG action of Monster Hunter Stories 3, there’s a bit of extra performance on the table for GeForce RTX owners.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
The big news this week is undoubtedly the PC launch of Hideo Kojima’s latest epic, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Arriving on 19 March, the game will fully support NVIDIA DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation. For those on the latest hardware, this means significantly higher frame rates while trekking across desolate landscapes.
NVIDIA has also confirmed that the game features DLSS Super Resolution, which can be further boosted using the NVIDIA app to the latest DLSS 4.5 standard. Interestingly, the PC port also includes “Pico,” a progressive image compositor developed by Guerrilla Games specifically for the Decima engine.
Key Features
- DLSS 4 Support: Includes Multi Frame Generation for smoother performance on RTX 40 and 50-series GPUs.
- Ultrawide Immersion: Full support for 21:9 and 32:9 aspect ratios.
- Pico Upscaling: A custom engine-specific upscaler that can be used alongside other technologies.
- Uncapped Framerates: Experience the journey with no artificial performance ceilings.
Marathon and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection
Bungie’s upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, is also getting some love. It now supports DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, which should help keep things snappy in competitive matches. Players can jump into the “Server Slam” test to see how the technology handles the game’s vibrant, neon-soaked visuals.
Meanwhile, Capcom’s Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is slated for a 13 March release. It will launch with DLSS Super Resolution support from day one, ensuring that your monster-riding adventures look as sharp as possible on PC.
Tell Me More
Death Stranding 2 is exactly the kind that benefits from high-quality upscaling, especially if you’re trying to hit 4K at 60 FPS or higher. The inclusion of the “Pico” upscaler is a nice touch for those who want to see how the original engine’s tech stacks up against NVIDIA’s AI-driven options. If you aren’t running the latest hardware, don’t worry, most of these titles are still looking after the wider PC community. Nixxes, who are handling the Death Stranding 2 port, have included support for AMD FSR 4 and Intel XeSS 2 as well. For Monster Hunter fans, the third entry in the Stories spin-off is moving toward a slightly more mature plot involving warring kingdoms and an environmental crisis known as “Crystal Encroachment.” With the added power of DLSS, the PC version is shaping up to be the definitive way to play.
