NVIDIA Expected to Present Arm-Based N1 and N1X Processors This Quarter

NVIDIA Expected to Present Arm-Based N1 and N1X Processors This Quarter

NVIDIA has already confirmed that it is working on a processor for Windows laptops in collaboration with MediaTek — the N1 and N1X. Many expected more details during CES 2026, but NVIDIA focused on other announcements, leaving these rumors aside. Initially, these processors were believed to be delayed until late 2026, but new information suggests their launch will happen this very quarter.

The Upcoming NVIDIA N1 and N1X Chips

This N1 processor family is not entirely new; it already exists in some NVIDIA hardware, although not for consumer use. It is currently part of the DGX Spark mini PC, which includes a chip inspired by the N1 architecture. NVIDIA aims to bring this Arm-based technology to regular Windows users soon.

Since its first announcement, little information has been revealed about this series, and the company has not mentioned any plans for consumer laptops or desktop PCs. According to a report by DigiTimes, NVIDIA plans to announce these processors within this quarter, with availability expected in the second quarter of the year.

Additionally, NVIDIA is said to be working on the next-generation N2 series, planned for release in the third quarter of 2027.

The DGX Spark’s GB10 chip, which is based on the N1 design, could serve as a foundation for the consumer version. The processor is rumored to feature 10 Arm CPU cores paired with 48 Blackwell-based CUs (Compute Units). This configuration should deliver graphics performance comparable to a mid-range NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU.

The GB10 also supports LPDDR5X memory running at 9,000 MT/s with a 256-bit bus. However, the N1 and N1X versions will likely include less memory than the 128 GB found in the DGX Spark AI mini PC. Because the chip integrates a powerful GPU, no discrete graphics card will be required. The integrated GPU reportedly includes 6,144 CUDA cores — performance similar to an RTX 5070 desktop card.

Despite these promising leaks, many details about the N1 and N1X processors remain unknown. NVIDIA is expected to position these chips as direct competitors to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite processors, already available for Windows laptops.
