NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Drops Below MSRP for the First Time in Germany
The graphics card market is gradually returning to normal. After months of limited availability and prices well above MSRP, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 has finally reached a long-anticipated milestone: in Germany, it was spotted selling for under €2,000—dropping below the official European MSRP of €2,229 for the first time. Although the offer was short-lived, the signal is clear: high-end GPU prices are finally beginning to fall.
A Rare Deal on the RTX 5090
The model that marked this price drop was the MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Ventus 3X OC, briefly sold by Mindfactory for €1,999. This is a rare event considering that for months the 5090 stabilized above €2,500 due to limited supply and high demand. Although the same card has since returned to nearly €2,700, it is still available slightly below MSRP at other retailers such as Alza.de. According to Geizhals data, the downward trend is affecting various models, with several RTX 5090 variants now priced in the €2,200–€2,500 range.
The drop doesn’t only apply to the 5090. Other GPUs in the RTX 50 series—such as the 5080, 5070 Ti, and standard 5070—are also slowly returning to more affordable levels. In many regions, prices are still slightly above MSRP, but it’s a clear improvement compared to previous weeks when cards sold for 40–50% more.
NVIDIA isn’t the only player adjusting prices. AMD has also started reducing the prices of its new GPUs. The Radeon RX 9070 XT, which launched with an MSRP of €689, is now sold in some versions for around €700, with the Gigabyte Gaming OC model already seeing a €40 price drop since May. The most surprising decline comes from the standard RX 9070, with the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC variant hitting €600—€29 below the MSRP.
The last six months have seen a volatile market marked by rising prices, chronic shortages, and a widening gap between recommended and actual retail prices. However, there are now signs of potential normalization, thanks to increased availability and intensified competition affecting pricing strategies.
