The Nvidia GTX 660 and GTX 650 are the only two cards we are yet to see from the new desktop GTX 600 graphics card series. With the next generation of cards already drawing closer Nvidia will finally release the GTX 650 and GTX 660 this month.
The GTX 660 and GTX 650 will allow Nvidia to capture lower price points and compete better with the HD 7850 and HD 7770 graphics cards. Consumers and Nvidia alike will be hoping that the performance will force AMD to revise its pricing policy on the HD 7800 and HD 7700 series graphics cards.
The GTX 660 is based on the GK106 GPU die which gives it 960 CUDA cores and 2 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 192-bit wide memory interface; while the GK107-based GeForce GTX 650 is said to pack 384 CUDA cores and 1 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 128-bit wide memory interface.
No pricing is expected yet but the GTX 660 is for the $200-$300 price point whilst the GTX 650 is for the $100-$200 price point so expect more accurate prices to emerge nearer the release date on September the 12th.
