NVIDIA Launches RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell With 84 GB VRAM and 21,760 CUDA Cores
NVIDIA has introduced its new graphics card for artificial intelligence, the RTX PRO 5500 Workstation Edition. The GPU has the same number of cores as the RTX 5090, but comes with a total of 84 GB of VRAM.
The new graphics card from the Blackwell PRO family comes with strong specifications. This model uses the GB202 GPU chip, which is the same chip used by both the RTX PRO 6000 and the GeForce RTX 5090.
Compared with NVIDIA’s top gaming graphics card, both have the same 21,760 CUDA cores, but the RTX PRO 5500 has a TDP of 600 W. The rest of its specifications have not been confirmed. However, the RTX 5090 has 680 TMUs, 680 Tensor cores, 176 ROPs, 170 RT cores and 96 MB of L2 cache. The RTX PRO 5500 may share some of these specifications.
NVIDIA RTX PRO 5500 Is Basically an RTX 5090 With 84 GB of VRAM
The main feature of this new graphics card is its memory. The RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell has a total of 84 GB of VRAM. This is 36 GB more VRAM than the RTX PRO 5000 Blackwell and only 12 GB less than the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell. It also has a 416-bit bus interface, which means it would have 13 32-bit interfaces.
The card can reportedly reach a memory bandwidth of up to 1,398 GB/s. This means it is slightly slower than the RTX 5090, but slightly faster than the RTX PRO 5000.
For connectivity, the card has four DisplayPort 2.1b outputs. It also uses a PCIe Gen5 x16 interface and connects to the motherboard through a single 16-pin CEM5 power connector. It supports both air-cooled and liquid-cooled thermal solutions.
NVIDIA has not announced an official price, but the GPU is expected to cost more than $10,000. As more information becomes available, we’ll make sure to let you guys know here at eTeknix.
