The releasing of the Nvidia 20XX series introduced us to the brand new Turing architecture. From what we’ve seen of it so far, the naming certainly does more than a little to impress with exceptionally strong performances. To date though, we have yet to see this technology implemented on a smaller scale.
There are some rumours that we’ll see our first M-series (designed for laptops) of the 20XX range at the upcoming CES trade show. In a report via Videocardz though, it seems that Nvidia may also be preparing an updated release of their MX series with an HP Notebook seeming to list the MX250 as it’s graphics adaptor.
We should first note that there is absolutely nothing confirming that this will contain any Turing architecture. It does, however, look very likely. What is perhaps most surprising though is that this will include 2GB of DDR5 memory. A memory which Nvidia had seemed to have (more or less) abandoned after the release of the 20XX series. Even the updated 10XX cards have GDDR5+.
As per the MX150, this MX250 will likely be designed to produce graphics performance on a budget. Based on the performance seen with the MX150 though, we can easily expect a very competent graphics adaptor at least in terms of 720p-1080p graphics ranges. More than good enough to turn a basic laptop or notebook into a low-end gaming system.
With CES just around the corner, we fully expect this to be on the agenda with the M-series.
