NVIDIA Reportedly Planning Major RTX 5090 Price Increase
NVIDIA is reportedly planning to increase the price of the GeForce RTX 5090, according to a report from Chinese sources known as Board Channels.
The company is also expected to raise the price of the GeForce RTX 5090D V2, a China-only model with reduced performance due to export restrictions imposed by the United States on products linked to AI technology.
RTX 5090 and RTX 5090D V2 May Get Big Price Hikes
The price increase could be significant. According to the report, the GeForce RTX 5090 may become up to 300 dollars more expensive, while the GeForce RTX 5090D V2 could see a similar rise in price.
This new price jump is linked to the rising cost of GDDR7 memory and higher DRAM contract prices, which have also affected DDR5 memory prices and availability.
The GeForce RTX 5090 was already very expensive, so another increase would push prices even higher. This may not be the last increase either. If the DRAM market situation does not improve, prices could continue rising over the next few quarters.
Buying a GeForce RTX 5090 has already become nearly impossible unless someone has a very large budget, and this situation has also pushed up prices in the second-hand market for the GeForce RTX 4090, which has become much more expensive as well.
