Nvidia RTX 50 Leads the GPU Market in Australia as AMD RX 9000 Gains Ground
The Australian graphics card market shows clear competition between Nvidia’s RTX 50 series and AMD’s Radeon RX 9000 series, with a more balanced rivalry than in other regions.
Nvidia Leads with RTX 50 Series
The GeForce RTX 50 series currently holds 56% of total GPU sales in Australia. In comparison, AMD’s Radeon RX 9000 series makes up the remaining 44%, showing a strong competition but with a clear lead for Nvidia.
The success of GeForce RTX 50 comes mainly from its Ada Lovelace architecture, which delivers high performance and improved energy efficiency. These cards offer advanced features for high-resolution gaming, real-time ray tracing, and AI-based technologies that appeal to both gamers and content creators. Nvidia’s competitive pricing strategy has also helped more users access mid- and high-end models, strengthening its position in the Australian market.
AMD’s Steady Performance with RX 9000 Series
Meanwhile, AMD’s Radeon RX 9000 cards, though powerful and capable of matching Nvidia’s raw performance, face challenges with availability and driver optimization in certain games. Still, AMD offers great value in specific segments, especially high-performance cards with better price-to-performance ratios — explaining their 44% market share.
According to sources from Hardware Unboxed, Radeon GPUs are gaining ground among some Australian retailers:
Retailer told me that in the last 6 months, they’ve sold just over 200% more 9070 XTs than 5070 Ti. And in the last 30 days, they’ve sold roughly double the Radeon GPU, so 9070 XT over 5070 Ti. […] Here in Australia, speaking with a few different people, 9070 XT has heavily outsold 5070 Ti.
To date, the Australian retailers have sold twice as many, so 100% more 9060 XT series GPUs than they have 5060 Ti. […] So 9060 XT has been way more popular than 5060 Ti here in Australia.
Although Nvidia currently dominates the Australian GPU market with the RTX 50 series, AMD continues to hold a strong position with the RX 9000 line, keeping competition alive and intense in this region.
