Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti 16GB May Face Stock Shortage
The popular Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti graphics card with 16 GB of memory may soon face a supply shortage in the coming weeks. This news has caused concern among hardware enthusiasts, as this GPU has become one of the best-selling and most in-demand models in the RTX 50 series, known for its great price-to-performance ratio.
Possible Supply Issues for the 16 GB Model
According to a well-known leaker, @Zed__Wang, the 16 GB version could experience limited availability. This is particularly noteworthy because Nvidia had reportedly decided earlier to reduce production of the 8 GB RTX 5060 Ti in order to boost sales of the 16 GB model. The preference for the higher-memory version, combined with strong consumer demand, means that any supply disruption could be especially impactful.
Rising GDDR7 Memory Prices Affecting Production
The main reason behind this potential shortage appears to be the global video memory market. Reports indicate a shortage of GDDR7 modules, which is driving up manufacturing costs for GPU makers.
While high-end models might use 3 Gb chips, the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB relies on 2 Gb GDDR7 modules, which are also seeing a significant rise in production costs. Overall, the global DRAM market is experiencing price increases in consumer memories like DDR4 and DDR5. The instability in prices and the limited availability of GDDR7 — a crucial component — could be affecting Nvidia and its partners’ ability to maintain production levels.
If this shortage and price surge continue, more GPU models could face similar issues in the future.
