NVIDIA Set to Cut GeForce RTX 50 Supply by 30% as Prices Reach Stability
The price of GeForce RTX 50 graphics cards has been stabilizing over the past few months. Many models are now available at their recommended retail price or even below it. However, some graphics cards are still priced above their recommended prices.
Possible Supply Reduction
According to sources in China (thanks Wccftech), NVIDIA is preparing to reduce the supply of GeForce RTX 50 cards once prices have fully stabilized. If this happens, the supply could be cut by as much as 30%, which may cause prices to rise again if demand remains high. It’s rumored that this reduction may have already started in July, although this is not yet confirmed.
NVIDIA aims to prevent the stock of GeForce RTX 50 cards from exceeding a certain limit. This is why the company is taking these measures: to avoid a situation where it becomes difficult to clear out stock when necessary. It seems that NVIDIA wants to avoid repeating situations from previous generations, where high stock levels led to multiple generations of graphics cards coexisting in the market.
Currently, you can still purchase the GeForce RTX 3060, and the GeForce RTX 4060 is still available, along with other models from the GeForce RTX 40 series. This is exactly the situation NVIDIA wants to avoid, but achieving this goal will come at a cost for consumers.
This strategy benefits NVIDIA in two ways. Not only does it help prevent excessive stock buildup, but it may also lead to an increase in the price of the GeForce RTX 50, allowing NVIDIA to earn more profit.
