NVIDIA Wants Manufacturers to Prioritize the 16 GB RTX 5060 Ti Model Over the 8 GB Version
NVIDIA recently introduced new GDDR7 memory with its RTX 50 Series graphics cards, launched earlier this year. However, in the company’s more affordable models, the amount of memory remains at a modest 8 GB, as seen in the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti (8 GB version).
It seems NVIDIA knows that gamers prefer models with more memory, and has advised manufacturers of the RTX 5060 Ti to prioritize the 16 GB version over the 8 GB model.
Gamers Prefer the 16 GB RTX 5060 Ti
Demand for the 16 GB version of the NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti is much higher than for the 8 GB model, which many gamers tend to skip. Players prefer double the memory for only a small price difference.
In some cases, you only need to spend around $50 more to get the model with twice the memory. NVIDIA has urged manufacturers to treat the 8 GB version as a secondary option and focus on producing and promoting the 16 GB model instead.
Why NVIDIA Is Pushing for the 16 GB Model
This move isn’t random — NVIDIA’s latest technologies work much better with more VRAM. Having an extra 8 GB of memory allows for additional visual effects, improving image quality and creating more realistic game scenes.
However, in terms of raw graphics performance, both models perform almost identically. The main benefit of the 16 GB version is future-proofing and smoother gameplay in memory-intensive games.
It seems NVIDIA is focusing on offering more memory in its cards. This suggests that, in future GPU architecture updates, 8 GB models might eventually be phased out.
