Word from Fudzilla that Nvidia has finally talked to its partner regarding the confidential Kepler products. With AMD enjoying the current lack of competition, it’s more than the time to go for it.
Along with the briefing, the partners also got the reference design and, as you’re reading this article, the cards have already gone in production. It’s more than likely that the first products to show up will be all reference designs with the possibility for slight differences here and there while the custom cooler models will come up on the market a little bit later.
Nvidia’s GK104 should be ready for release by April, however no concrete date is known. Jensen did mention that Nvidia had some lower than expected 28nm yields although it is nothing like the transition to 40nm from a few years back.
Even though a lot of rumours have circulated about Nvidia outperforming AMD, it doesn’t stop the latter from enjoying the sales of its 28nm GPU. Nvidia has finally woken up and is getting ready to release its portfolio of products, from entry-level to high-end.
