NZXT Low Noise Microphone Boom Arm Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Well, that’s the kicker, the NZXT Boom Arm is roughly £80-90 at most retailers. I was not happy when I saw that price, knowing I can get one on Amazon for around £15 that’ll do the job. However, now that I’ve used it, it’s clear that you get what you pay for. The overall design, features and construction are a huge step up, and you won’t regret the investment in the end.

Overview

NZXT has a strong design philosophy that spans all of its products. Thematically, their cases, coolers, peripherals and more all match up with each other. That same style and quality can be found in the NZXT Boom Arm too, and there’s no doubt that this is one of the best-looking boom arms on the market today.

The exterior shell adds durability, but mostly it improves the overall aesthetics too. It’s a very clean and stylish design that’s sure to compliment your desktop aesthetic. Of course, it’s also a great pairing for the stylish and rather fantastic NZXT Capsule microphones too. However, keep in mind, that it’s a standard screw fitting with adaptors, so you can fit just about any microphone on here if you so desire.

The enclosed design also means all the rods, springs, and other tension hardware is hidden out of sight. I actually like seeing the exposed hardware on some models, it looks cool. However, this looks cleaner and smarter, but with the added benefit of it also being a heck of a lot quieter too. Those annoying squeaks you get on cheaper models are not present here, which is a big advantage.

And again, that enclosed design gives it yet another advantage, as it provides a plentiful space to route your audio cables. XLR cables can be pretty hefty, so having a way to route them cleanly, safely, and easily is most welcome. Again, it just looks better, but also reduced the change of trapping a cable in the joins of the mechanism too.

Should I Buy One?

It’s a big investment, and I will say that if you just need a mount, a cheaper one will do just fine. However, if you want something that looks, feels and performs to a high standard, it’s hard to argue with what the NZXT Boom Arm has to offer. It’s a premium solution to a simple problem, but it delivers on all its promises with style. Highly recommended.
