NZXT Relay Headset, SwitchMix, Speakers & Relay Subwoofer Review

A Closer Look – Switch Mix

Switch and Mix it Up

  • Tailor your listening experience as needed by switching from headset to speaker output by simply placing/removing your headset on/from the stand.
  • Fade between game and voice sounds with a smooth, studio-grade slider to find a comfortable balance between in-game audio and your teammate’s chatter.

High-Resolution DAC Powered by DTS

  • 24-bit / 96 kHz DAC provides high-resolution audio for a sonically accurate and optimal listening experience.
  • Enjoy immersive DTS 7.1 surround sound on compatible devices, delivering lifelike 3D spatial audio for enriched in-game soundscapes.

Attractive Footprint with included Stand

  • Pressure-activated switch on the stand means the Relay SwitchMix works with any headset and speakers that opens with a 3.5mm headphone jack
  • The mixer tucks into the base of the stand for a clutter-cutting desktop addition.

Then we come to the Relay SwitchMix. This is actually also deceiving simple looking, mostly due to the slick aesthetic NZXT has given everything. There’s a headphone stand, a small mixer, and a few cables, that’s about it. What’s really cool is there’s a pressure switch on the top of the headphone stand. This means that lifting the headset will mute the speakers and turn on the headset. Put your headset down, it cuts out and the speakers come back on. This is optional too, there’s a tiny cable on the base of the stand that plugs into the mixer, if you don’t want that feature, just don’t connect the switch.

However, this contains a powerful Hi-Res Audio DAC with DTS:X processing and can apply EQ and other settings via desktop software. There’s a slider for the mixer on the right, and a jog wheel for the overall volume controls, which can also be pushed to mute too.

There’s a headphone out on the front, a speaker out on the back, and it’s about that simple really.
