NZXT Unveils New High-Performance Fan Series: Built for Extreme Cooling

NZXT has a great range of premium cooling hardware, and now with their new high-performance fan series, they’re stepping it up a notch. The new fans are the F120X, F140X, F240X, F280X, and the F360X. This isn’t just a slight bump in specs, as these new fans are purpose-built for PC enthusiasts and gamers demanding the best cooling for their system, while making no compromises on aesthetics.

NZXT claims this series delivers the highest airflow and static pressure the company has ever offered. With an emphasis on cutting-edge engineering to maximise cooling efficiency while minimising noise, the new Performance series is setting a new standard for powerful, quiet, and reliable performance in high-end system builds.

The NZXT Performance Fan Series

This new range is certainly distinguishing itself with advanced materials and meticulous engineering, focusing on achieving a phenomenal balance between robust cooling and acoustic efficiency. Unlike some high-performance fans that can sound like a small aeroplane taking off, NZXT is clearly aiming for the best of both worlds.

Perhaps the most immediately interesting feature is the single-frame design utilised in the F240X, F280X, and F360X models. This design integrates multiple fans into one solid unit, significantly reducing the number of screws and cables needed. Anyone who wants to save time on their cable management will certainly appreciate this move.

Key Features

  • Liquid-crystal Polymer (LCP) Construction: Ultra-rigid blades and frame to resist flex and vibration, ensuring consistent, powerful, and quiet airflow even at high speeds.
  • Optimised Aerodynamic Design: Features a minimal blade-to-frame gap to reduce turbulence and a thicker 30 mm frame to allow for more efficient, concentrated air movement.
  • Hybrid Bearing System: Combines magnetic levitation for rotor stability with a fluid dynamic bearing to minimise friction, ensuring quieter operation and an extended lifespan.
  • Single-Frame Design: F240X, F280X, and F360X units integrate multiple fans into one frame for simplified installation and much cleaner cable management.
  • Advanced 3-Phase, 6-Pole Motor: Delivers smoother, more precise speed control and faster response with lower energy consumption and less noise.
  • Reinforced Metal Bearing Enclosure: Strengthens the fan’s internal structure, improving stability and reliability at high rotational speeds.
  • Anti-Vibration Design: High-density rubber corners absorb movement and vibration, ensuring quiet operation.
  • Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Control: Enables precise, automatic fan speed adjustments based on system temperature.
  • Aesthetic Finishes: Brushed aluminium side panels offer a sleek, durable look, complemented by subtle, customisable RGB lighting accents.
  • Warranty: Backed by a generous 5-year warranty for peace of mind.

Specifications (Based on F120X Model)

The series comes in multiple sizes: 120mm (F120X), 140mm (F140X), and multi-fan single-frame units of 240mm, 280mm, and 360mm. The 120mm F120X model certainly boasts some eye-watering specifications, which will be highly effective for pushing air through restrictive components like radiators and dense heatsinks.

What We Think

NZXT has a solid fan base in the enthusiast PC market, and with their focus on both static pressure and high airflow, combined with the use of advanced materials like Liquid-crystal Polymer, shows a genuine commitment to top-tier performance. And they have to step up, with their rivals all having some very competitive products in the market right now.

The inclusion of a hybrid magnetic levitation bearing system suggests they’ve thought seriously about longevity and noise reduction. The biggest win, in our opinion, is the single-frame design for the multi-fan units. Radiator fans can be an absolute pain to install and cable-manage, and turning three fans into a single pre-wired unit is going to make life significantly easier for system builders. While we’ll need to see final pricing and real-world acoustic tests, on paper, this looks like a significant upgrade.
