Oblivion Hit IV Million Players

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster has been a huge success, and it’s not hard to see why with its stunning visuals, the inclusion of every DLC baked into the base game at no extra cost. Not just that the fact that the base game is priced at a more traditional £49.99 and is available on Xbox Games Pass. The Oblivion remaster is everything a remaster should be, and I couldn’t recommend it more.

But it seems that everyone agrees with that sentiment, as the devs have just announced that the game has surpassed 4 million players and the devs have given so many thanks for the overwhelming support.

Where to Buy

As mentioned before, you can find the game over on Steam, on Xbox Game Pass, and the PSN, so there’s plenty of ways to play, with an MSRP of just £49.99, or of course, included with game pass.

Bethesdas Thanks

When it comes to Oblivion, many of the developers across Bethesda Game Studios and Virtuos had one piece of advice for newcomers: Explore! Take your time and play your way. Leave no stone unturned and no NPC unquestioned. “Take your time. Don’t be afraid to stray off the path. There’s so much to explore and so much to find. Dig into all the nooks and crannies. Stop and talk to people. You’ll probably find something that will carry your story in a new direction.”—Al Nanes, Design Director | Bethesda Game Studios

What Virtuos Had to Say

“Don’t rush it. That’s so, so important. Embrace everything the game has to offer.”—Ricardo Mora, Senior Producer | Virtuos

“If you’re a returning player, go to your favorite places. Talk to your favorite characters. Rediscover them in the Remaster. If you’re totally new to the game, take it easy. Get invested in the story. Enjoy the world. There’s just so much for you to discover.”—Paula Del Valle, Senior Producer | Virtuos

“I just love this world. It’s so great. Explore and level up your skills while you’re just running around the world. I like to just jump a ton and level up my acrobatics. At higher levels you’re jumping from roof to roof. Explore the world and raise your skills!”—Alexandre Lecomte, Lead Software Engineer | Virtuos

“Just go for it! Death is temporary. You have quicksaves for a reason. See a dungeon full of enemies? Check it out! You can always reload.”—Zacharie Cornière, Software Engineer | Virtuos

What Bethesda Had to Say

“It’s so important when you’re playing Oblivion to just talk to everyone. Start a conversation with all the NPCs. Ask them about rumors. It opens up so many neat little side quests and adventures you can have that are separate from the main quest. There are so many great distractions. There’s a great quest you can find in a seedy little inn in the Imperial City called The Bloated Float. I don’t want to spoil it, but you should spend a night there and see what happens.”—Istvan Pely, Studio Art Director | Bethesda Game Studios

“Do whatever you want. Don’t be worried about if you’re going the right way or doing the right thing. It’s your game. It’s your world. Throw out what you think about games and just go explore.”—Craig Lafferty, Director of Mobile Games | Bethesda Game Studios

“Don’t go in expecting to have the same experience as anyone else. Your experience is going to be your experience and you’re going to have your own unique game. You’ll pick a different class or a different birthsign, but more importantly, you’re going to pick a different path. Every person I know plays differently and has a different experience with Oblivion. You’ll have a great time, no matter how you play.”—Megan Sawyer, Senior Environment Artist | Bethesda Game Studios

“Oblivion is really one of the first games where we said ‘If you can see it, you can go to it.’ So just go. Explore. Find fun stuff to do. Find and make your own stories.”—Emil Pagliarulo, Studio Design Director | Bethesda Game Studios

“Pick up everything and go on a ton of side quests. Finding the fun is the fun of the game for me. I love the main story, but I love getting lost and touching everything just as much.”—Christiane Meister, Senior Character Artist | Bethesda Game Studios

“I’ve got a spot for you to visit. The White Stallion Lodge is a tiny little inn on the river down near Leyawiin. There’s a little table and a chair outside and it’s a wonderful place to just sit and enjoy the scenery. It’s actually the first place I went in the Remaster after escaping the sewers. It’s still one of my favorite places in the game.”—Brian Chapin, Senior Quest Designer | Bethesda Game Studios
