Oblivion Remastered and Gears of War Reloaded Sell Over 1.6 Million Combined on PS5, Data Suggests
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Gears of War Reloaded are two Microsoft titles now available on PlayStation 5 — something that would have been unthinkable a few years ago. The big question is: how well have they sold? According to data shared by Alinea Analytics, we finally have some insight.
Recent reports already showed that Forza Horizon 5 has surpassed five million units sold on PS5 — an impressive figure that raises curiosity about how other Xbox-origin games are performing on Sony’s console. Rhys Elliott from Alinea Analytics shared on LinkedIn that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has sold around 1.1 million copies on PlayStation 5. He also revealed numbers for Gears of War Reloaded.
Comparing Oblivion Remastered and Gears of War Reloaded
There are major differences between these two titles, not only in genre and audience but also in how they were released. Forza Horizon 5 was originally exclusive to PC and Xbox consoles, while The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered launched immediately as a multi-platform title.
Alinea Analytics notes that about half of PS5 players spent only around 15 hours playing Oblivion Remastered. This suggests that many players may have purchased it out of nostalgia or curiosity following its surprise release. However, bugs and performance issues at launch could have discouraged longer play sessions.
Gears of War Reloaded Outsells Its Xbox and Steam Versions
Interestingly, Gears of War Reloaded sold 572,000 copies on PS5 — more than the combined total on Xbox (202,000) and Steam (73,000). Alinea Analytics attributes this to Game Pass, which significantly reduced direct sales as 1.6 million players accessed the game through the subscription service.
It’s worth noting that Gears of War has been available on Xbox for years, meaning it no longer holds the same novelty factor for Microsoft players. On PlayStation, however, it’s a completely new experience, which likely contributed to the strong PS5 sales. Fans are now waiting to see how the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day will perform.
Elliott’s post also shared data for other Microsoft titles such as DOOM: The Dark Ages (495,000 units) and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (493,000 units). While these figures are estimates, not official sales data, they still provide an interesting look at how Xbox games are performing on rival platforms.
