Obsidian Confirms Two DLCs and Continuous Updates for The Outer Worlds 2 in 2026
In a long year-end article published on Xbox Wire, several teams from Xbox Game Studios shared their plans for the upcoming year. Obsidian Entertainment revealed that it has two DLC expansions in development for The Outer Worlds 2, along with ongoing improvements coming through multiple updates scheduled throughout 2026.
Brandon Adler from Obsidian explained that part of the team remains fully dedicated to supporting The Outer Worlds 2, even though the game has already been released. He added that the studio is also working on other projects, with several updates and plans set for 2026.
There are still no specific details about the upcoming DLCs, but they will be included as bonuses in the Premium Edition or through the Premium Upgrade, which allows Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to access the full edition.
Two Major Story Expansions in Development
The Premium Edition already includes a “DLC Pass” featuring Story Expansions 1 and 2, confirming that these will be full narrative add-ons with new story elements — similar to the expansions released for the first The Outer Worlds.
“I’m excited to work with the team to continue adding to The Outer Worlds 2. We have a couple of DLCs coming out and we are also talking about what kind of continual improvements we want to release to the players over the next year,” Adler said in Obsidian’s year-end message.
“We have a ton of ideas – everything from new features to quality-of-life improvements that players have been asking for when we talk to them. It’s an exciting time for us and I can’t wait to share more info once we get deeper into the planning,” Adler concluded.
