OCZ have unveiled an external storage SSD unit at the Storage Visions conference in Las Vegas which precedes CES 2012. Since Thunderbolt is arriving for the desktop PC platform this year expect a lot more products like this one. The Lightfoot drive is encased in a metal shell and uses a similar styling to the OCZ Enyo drive. In terms of the internal SSD not much is known about the specifics, we know it will use a Marvell controller which apparently gives speeds of up to 750MB/s. The drive will apparently be available in 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB capacities.
As this is only a prototype introduction of the product no pricing or information on launch was given by OCZ, but we can safely assume it will arrive in late Q1 or early Q2.
