OEMs due to recieve Windows 7 Service Pack 1 at last


Windows 7 is used by the majority of users at this present time and Service Pack 1 has been available since October but no official launch has occurred as of yet. Certain dates have been thrown around including December 2010, January and even March of 2011. Now unless Microsoft have invented the flux capacitor and are planning on going back in time, December isn’t a likely option and with January coming to a close soon it all depends on what Microsoft can pull out of the bag.

Russian blog TechNet however, have managed to secure information from Microsoft that states SP1 is on track to OEMs for a Q1 release. This mean that the likes of Acer, Dell, HP and many more favoured manufacturers will be let loose with the release very shortly.


 

Windows 7 isn’t the only operating system set for glory as Windows Server 2008 R2 is in the same situation. Both operating systems will incorporate a whole host of hotfixes including improved remote desktop support, 3D application boosts and much more.

This story doesn’t give us anything out of the ordinary as we’re all used to delays with Microsoft, but let’s just hope that SP1 doesn’t do what Windows 7 did, and get delayed over and over and over and…
