Onda Launches Intel Z790 DDR4 Motherboard for Just $111, Aiming to Capture the Market
In the PC parts market, where high-end products are often too expensive, a new motherboard from China is getting attention. It comes with the Intel Z790 chipset and DDR4 memory, priced at about $111 (around 800 yuan).
Affordable Performance for Budget Builders
This motherboard, made by the local brand Onda, challenges traditional pricing structures. While Z790 motherboards from established brands rarely drop below $180 or $200, this model aims to deliver the overclocking and connectivity features of Intel’s premium chipset to users on a tighter budget.
One of the keys to keeping the price so competitive is the use of DDR4 memory. Although the DDR5 standard is now well established, DDR4 remains cheaper and offers excellent performance for gaming and productivity. By using this standard, Onda allows users to reuse their existing memory modules or buy new ones at a fraction of the cost of DDR5 kits.
Despite its low price, the board doesn’t cut corners where it matters. It features a strong power delivery design to support high-consumption processors, multiple M.2 slots for NVMe storage, and a clean, dark-and-white color scheme. It’s an ideal solution for users who want to get the most out of an Intel “K” series processor without spending a fortune.
Will It Reach Western Markets?
For now, its availability appears limited to the Asian market through import platforms. However, this launch clearly shows that it’s possible to produce high-performance motherboards at an affordable price.
For Western users, it represents an interesting alternative through international online stores, as long as warranty and technical support considerations are kept in mind.
Now that DDR5 memory prices remain high, could we see more new motherboards using DDR4 in Western markets soon? We’ll keep you updated.
