One last final push for Phenom

Remember March of 2008? I won’t pretend I do, but that was the month that the legendary Phenom X4 was released to the masses.

Back then, Intel had a large chunk of the consumer pie, but AMD’s move to introduce budget quad cores changed the game. Now, 3 years on, the architecture is dying.

With Intel having reasonably priced quad core SKU’s such as the i5’s that far outperform the Phenom, it’s no wonder why.

Lower TDP, higher performance and a good price are just some of the factors for this, but on an architecture that has its roots in the late 90’s, it has held its ground very well.

As a final resort to gain some extra market share before the Fusion platform gets a full intodutcion, they have kept pricing equal to the Phenom 975.

Phenom, as we know it, is dying……
