The Opera Desktop Browser Now Has an Integrated VPN

Browser

Opera is one of the most lightweight and versatile browsers although the statistics show it’s struggling to achieve a large market share anywhere near Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. This is a shame because Opera has a unintrusive update process and loads pages extremely quickly. Recently, Opera launched version 40 of their browser which now includes a built-in VPN. The VPN service is hosted by Opera themselves and doesn’t require any payment or even user credentials. Opera’s VPN has five server locations and enhances user privacy without relying on a third-party plugin. The current locations are Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, Singapore and The United States of America. If you’re not technically-minded and unsure how to enable the free VPN, the Opera team has made a helpful guide:

“After downloading the browser, enabling VPN is easy. Go to “Settings” (or “Preferences” on Mac), choose “Privacy & Security” and then toggle the free VPN. An icon labeled “VPN” will appear in the browser, from which you can toggle VPN on and off, and choose a location.”
