Overview

I’m somewhat conflicted with this headset, on one hand I really like, on the other I have a few minor nagging issues with it. It’s not great for music, which is a bit of a deal breaker for me, as I like my headsets to be versatile and not everyone wants to have at least two headsets; one for gaming, one for music. The in-line controller is poorly designed, with its silly blinking LED light and tricky shirt clip; not forgetting the lack of chat volume controls.

When it comes to gaming, this headset sounds superb and it especially delivers the goods when it comes to FPS gaming; great news for those of you with rampant addictions to games like Call of Duty, Battlefield or Counter Strike, to name but a few. While the chat audio is a little bass heavy at default, most gamers now use 3rd party apps for team chat, so that’s an issue that is easily navigated, it does perform exceptionally well. Even in a noisy environment, the microphone provides bright and clear with no crackling or distortion. The closed-back design of the ear cups helps block out external noise and the max volume is surprisingly punchy, great for blocking out those noisy LAN gaming even crowds.

Build quality is literally the strong point of the Blast. It’s very well made, feels durable and I’m fairly confident it would survive a few hard knocks with only minors scratches and scrapes; this is good news if you plan on throwing it into your backpack a lot.

Overall, a great headset for gaming, so long as that’s all you want it for. The headset was designed by a gamer and no doubt suits his needs very well, if you feel aligned with the eSports lifestyle, then this could be a great gaming headset for you.
