Performance

This headset was designed with gaming in mind, so it’s only right that I start with that. I fired up a few games of League of Legends and DOTA 2 to test the chat features, as team play is very important for eSports and especially so for a pro gaming peripheral. After a few games of being yelled at for feeding the enemy I can confirm that I still suck at these games, but I heard every negative remark from my team mates perfectly clear. I went through a few calls on Skype and Google Hangouts to further test the microphone and found it to be of exceptional quality; especially the noise cancelling features which kept my microphones audio nice and clear for the rest of my group, despite ample background noise from my 10 month old daughter.

Audio performance in games like League of Legends and DOTA 2 is one thing, but I decided to take it for a stroll around Skyrim. The latest in the Elder Scrolls series is a game full of wonderful soundscapes and the DSP on this headset really brings out the minor details, such as the sounds of the wind and trees very well. There’s plenty of bass too, it’s got a good low-end to it that is distortion free even at high volumes, something that shines through well in games like Battlefield 3 which is often very bass heavy. Music, movie, gaming, chat, the Onda has no issues with any of them. The sound is punchy and clear, with lots of detail that will satisfy music lovers and gamers alike.

The super soft padding is especially nice, from the first moment I put the headset on and for hours after, I have no issues with the fit. The only issue I have with the headset so far, and it’s a slight issue, is that the sound leaks from the semi-open back drivers, so loud audio does tend to be shared with those in close proximity to you.
