With the rise of small form factor computing, various hardware vendors have responded with a passion. Gone are the days where wanting a small PC meant giving up performance and choice. As part of the continued rollout of GeForce 10 Pascal GPUs, Palit has released new GTX 1070 mini-ITX models under their GALAX and KFA2 brands.
Despite being mini-ITX, the cards feature the same NVIDIA’s GP104 GPU with 1920 CUDA cores running att 1518 MHz base and 1708 MHz boost. While both models feature a slight overclock from Nvidia’s reference frequencies, the TDP remains the same at 150W. Palit has gone old school, ditching a DisplayPort connector and offering just one DP, 1 HDMI and 2 DVI outputs.
Compared to its rivals, the Palit card is at bit longer at about 185mm which is a tad bigger than the mini-ITX motherboard at 170mm. This means not all cases will be compatible with the card. At the same time, the extra space allows for a bigger cooler which should help maintain the boost clock. For those who can fit it in, the Plait card will likely feature better performance. I for one look forward to the day when we can get full performance GPUs in a single slot half height mini-ITX form factor.
