Not so long ago, we reported one of the many episodes with Apple accusing Samsung of patent violation in Germany, and after a period of defence, Samsung has decided to retaliate, in France this time.
While we get the news today, Samsung actually placed the accusation silently back on the 8th of July, stating the violation of three patents.
“Samsung accuses the company with the apple to violate three of their patents ralted to the UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems), the mobile technology of third generation,” explains the French newspaper “Les Echos.”
According to the south-Korean company, Apple is exploiting the patents EP 373, 404 and 269 which, apparently relate to hardware using 3G connection. Involved are the iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4 as well as the iPad 3G both first and second generation.
Back in April, in response to the initial accusations by Apple, Samsung did strike back with ten complaints in different countries, revolving about a dozen of patents including those mentioned above.
The first hearing will take place around December, which will be the first time in this series where Samsung will be the attacker, which might be a good thing since the last time they were defending, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was banned from Germany and Australia while the smart phones Galaxy S, S II and Ace were prohibited from sale in Holland.
