Patriot Pyro 120GB Solid State Drive Review

The packaging for the Pyro is certainly eye-catching with bright orange and black contrasts and the main features simply laid out for easy reading. The key points on this drive is the MLC architecture and the SATA III controller used to give the best possible performance.

The back gives a simple feel to it as well with the main features listed in many different languages to appeal to the global market. Also we find contact details for the USA, Asia and European offices and the fact that this drive comes with a 3 year warranty.

Opening the packaging up, inside we find the drive sandwiched between a plastic clamshell packaging to assist in protecting the drive.

No accessories are included, as sometimes we expect a set of mounting brackets or similar, but sadly not with the Pyro. The only other thing that comes bundled is a leaflet that explains the dimensions and general specifications of the drive. One thing that is nice to see, or in this case, not to see, is any quoted performance figures which generally don’t live up to the sales and marketing hype.
