Patriot Viper V760 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

A Closer Look

The Viper comes with a few goodies in the box, but there’s also this lovely magnetic wrist rest. It’s got a durable grip coating and a small Viper logo in the corner.

It has a full-width design, and best of all, it doesn’t use those awful plastic clips that we still see on many premium keyboards. Just snap it in place, and you’re good to go.

The quality is fantastic and matches the aluminium construction of the main keyboard with a bit of trim on the edges.

The keyboard comes hard-wired with a black and red braided cable.

It uses two gold-plated USB heads, one for the keyboard, and an optional one for USB pass-through to the spare USB port on the back of the keyboard.

The pass-through port is perfect for hooking up your headset or mouse without fiddling behind your desk.

Aluminium Chassis

The keyboard design is very nice indeed, with “aircraft grade aluminium” for the main chassis. It’s strong, stylish and the sandblasted matte finish gives it a slick premium quality vibe.

There’s a small border around the keys which is raised and polished, breaking up the design so it’s not just a flat grey. Of course, as you can see, there’s also some hard black plastic/rubber trim to provide a bit more contrast. Furthermore, the jet black keycaps look fantastic on the lighter coloured chassis and should look even better with the RGB lighting powered up.

The keyboard lacks dedicated macro and multimedia keys. However, it’s not cutting those features out one bit and uses the FN-Shift button to unlock a lot of extra functionality. There are multimedia and audio controls located on the 1-6 keys.

The top row of function keys also doubles up as lighting controls for the RGB modes. These keys allow you to toggle through various profiles, effects, patterns, and much more.

12 keys just weren’t enough to handle all those features, so you’ll also find brightness located below F9 and F10.

But wait, there are more FN-Shift functions!

You can change the effect direction using the arrow keys too.

In fact, there are not really many keys on this keyboard that aren’t hiding an extra feature or two, which is pretty cool.

The underside of the keyboard features five tough rubber grips, so mashing at the keys shouldn’t cause it to slide around your desk. Plus, the keyboard is nicely weighted, which helps with that a lot too.
