PC Game Pass Could Be Folded Into Premium, Losing Full Catalog and Day-One Games
Microsoft may not be done changing its Game Pass subscription service. After the recent updates already announced, new changes could be coming that would directly affect PC Game Pass users. According to information reported by Windows Central, Microsoft is planning a new restructuring of its Game Pass tiers that could lead to the disappearance of the PC-only subscription.
Microsoft May Merge PC Game Pass With Game Pass Premium
Based on these reports, Microsoft is considering removing PC Game Pass and merging it into the recently renamed Game Pass Premium tier. While both subscriptions are currently priced close to each other, there is a major difference between them.
PC Game Pass currently includes day-one releases, something that Game Pass Premium no longer offers. With this merger, PC players would lose access to new games on launch day unless they move to a higher tier.
Another drawback of this possible change would be the reduced game catalog. Game Pass Premium does not offer the full library that is currently available on PC Game Pass, and it also does not include EA Play, which is part of the PC subscription.
If this merger goes through, PC users who want to keep full access to the Game Pass catalog and continue playing new titles on release day would need to subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate. This plan currently costs $29.99 per month, which is about $14 more than the current PC Game Pass price.
This would represent a significant price increase for PC players who only want access to games on PC and do not need console or cloud features. For now, Microsoft has not officially confirmed these changes, but if they happen, they could strongly impact how PC users access Game Pass in the future.
