PC Gaming – What to expect in 2012

Tomb Raider – Action RPG / Multi format

The 9th game in Tomb Raiders history, now with an attempt to completely fresh reboot the series, to what effect this will work I don’t know as the franchise has lost a lot of its appeal over the last few years, while there have been many advances in graphics to make her look muddier that ever before, it’s hardly ground breaking.  Hopefully they have taken note of games like Uncharted as far as control schemes go.  For me Tomb Raider hasn’t been great since the PS1, so hopefully this is a return to form for the series.

Negativity aside I am excited to play this one as Guardian of Light was a lot of fun, although it was a very different style of game to start with, but could we finally have a good tomb raider game?  Well find out late on this year I guess.

Resident Evil 6 & Operation Racoon City – Action RPG / Multi format

I was amazed to hear the announcement of RE6 this month, considering they haven’t even released Operation Racoon City yet, how that will affect sales of the latter I don’t know but it seems like bad business to me.  On the other hand I’m looking forward to playing both games this year, with a possible rival to Left4Dead on the horizon with Operation Racoon City in what looks like Gears of War with zombies, then support for 6 person multiplayer coming in the 6th Instalment to the franchise a few months after that, this is a good year for fans who enjoy donating lead to the un-dead.

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
