Philips 272E1GAJ 144hz Gaming Monitor Review

A Closer Look

This is a fairly light and compact monitor, or at least at 27″ it’s smaller than a lot of monitors I’ve reviewed recently (remember this Philips 55″ from a few months ago? Yeeesh.) However, it’s slim and you can pick it up with one hand easily. Simply screw the base on, and you’re pretty much good to go.

The controls are clearly marked on the front, so getting to the configuration menu is easily done. They’re real buttons too, not those bloody awful touch buttons; you know the kind I mean!

Branding is kept simple, just a simple Philips logo in the middle. It’s a good brand name to have too, they’ve got a strong reputation behind it.

The monitor has a sticker on it reminding you of the features should you have forgotten between buying it and now. I really don’t know why brands do this.

This sticker tells us it’s A rated for efficiency, which is pretty decent actually and it’ll also result in the display outputting a lot less heat than many older models.

One nice aspect of this monitor is the size. Because it’s quite slim and light, it only needs a light stand. That means that even with the stand on, you can push it really far back on your desk towards the wall.

The stand is pretty low impact too, and you could easily rest your keyboard on top of it if you’re short on space.

Around the back, it has a lovely brushed metal effect to the plastic.

Plus, all the ports are very easy to access. There’s a power jack, HDMI port, DisplayPort, and audio out. Nice and simple.

The stand mounts at a single point and while it doesn’t rotate left and right, it does allow from angle adjustment.

There’s a Kensington lock on the side here.

Finally, there’s also a VESA mount included, should you need to use your own mounting solution.
