Philips 34″ 6000 Series 34B2U6603CH Monitor Review
Performance

This is a big display, and I think that’s pretty much one of its key selling points. When it comes to productivity, having a 3440×1440 ultrawide 34-inch panel pretty much pays for itself. You can comfortably have massive spreadsheets on the display without endless side-to-side scrolling. Or you can have two full windows side by side, comfortably. My preferred setup is three windows, giving the primary middle window around 50% of the space, with two slimmer windows to the sides. This makes it easy to focus on your work, while keeping an eye on Discord banter and watching YouTube – just as my boss intended, I’m sure.

Of course, all the built-in peripherals, such as the speakers, camera, microphone, and that feature-rich KVM switch with Thunderbolt 4, are huge selling points as well. While they’re obviously factored into the cost of the monitor, they’re still going to save time, effort, and desktop space. These features also make this monitor well-suited to a hot-desking environment. If an office had ten desks and ten of these monitors, you could just sit down, plug your laptop into it using Type-C, and you’re ready to rock.

Being a VA panel, it does suffer from some clouding on a darker screen, but it’s not really a media display. If you want to sit in a dark room watching films, an IPS, OLED, or similar technology would be better suited. However, if you’re just on YouTube, WordPress, Excel, a bit of Photoshop, and what have you during office hours, it provides a bright and clear image that performs as well as you would expect.

While I like newer display technologies, they’re often just not needed for everyone, and certainly not within everyone’s budget. An OLED equivalent of this is double the price and then some. When it comes to delivering a big, bright, high-resolution image, the 6000-series scores pretty highly here.

Can you game on it too? Well, of course, you can! Sure, it’s no eSports beast you’ll want for competitive CS:GO, but it’s still a nice big display and offers great immersion. With a 120Hz refresh rate, it’s very smooth for work and gaming, and its 4ms response time is respectable. Playing a bit of Warzone, it doesn’t feel quite as responsive as my OLED gaming monitor, but honestly, it still holds up pretty well. Keep in mind, this is a “business” monitor, so the fact that it games as well as it does is just a huge benefit, especially if you’re working from home, using it for your work PC and then switching to your gaming PC after work.
